Building a Blog with AI Content Writing Tools (Case Study)
Building a Blog with AI Content Writing Tools (Case Study). In this case study, I will attempt to create a website with the help of AI to generate articles. AI tools are currently booming in the blogging world.
I have already created several websites with the help of AI, but so far, none of them have been documented as a case study. While I could write articles based on the websites I’ve created, I think it would be more exciting to build a new site from scratch.

Case Study of AI Blogs
Problem
Currently, it seems like Google and other search engines are getting stricter with indexing new websites. Sometimes, it takes a long time for a site to be indexed properly by Google. Bing has the same issue, and at times, it’s impossible to get indexed at all.
For this case study, I plan to create several websites simultaneously in the hope that at least one of them will gain traction. Ideally, all of them will receive good traffic.
Methods of Creation
For generating content, I will use a combination of the following methods:
- Manual: Creating content manually one by one.
- Bulk/Spam: Generating articles in bulk.
I will also use different types of domains for this case study:
- Using domains of already active websites.
- Using expired domains.
- Using fresh domains.
The types of blogs I plan to create are:
- Manual: Content generated by AI will be reviewed and optimized manually.
- Semi-spam: Bulk content generation with some internal links and minimal optimization.
- Spam: As much content as possible, posted immediately without optimization.
AI Tools to Be Used
The AI tools I plan to use for this project include:
- ChatGPT
- OpenAI Playground
- Google Bard
- Bing Chat
- Microsoft Designer (for images)
- Midjourney/DALL·E (for images)
- Raita AI (for bulk article generation using OpenAI)
Choosing the Blog Niche
Initially, I will look for niches where content is easy to replicate using AI content generators. I’ll split the niches into two categories:
- Manual Replication: Content that can be easily generated manually using AI tools like ChatGPT, OpenAI Playground, and others.
- Automated Replication: Niches that are suitable for bulk content generation using tools like Raita AI, where the content may be less technical.
AI Content Blog Potential
For blogs where content is manually generated, I believe any niche can work, as long as the content can be easily created with AI tools. For blogs with bulk AI content, the ideal niche should meet these criteria:
- The topic is general and non-technical.
- There is plenty of content available online.
- The topic is not new (e.g., information available before 2021).
Keyword Research
After determining the niche, I will proceed with keyword research. The tools I will use for keyword research include:
- Google Suggestions, Related Search, Image Search
- Google Search Console
- Bing Webmaster
- Google Trends
- Keyword Everywhere Extension
- Semrush
- Writerzen
Website Optimization
I will focus primarily on on-page optimization for these blogs. I’ll optimize the website structure, internal linking, and make sure the content is well-organized.
AI Article Optimization
To ensure the articles generated by AI are unique and well-optimized, I will pay attention to factors like the tone of the content, structure, and length. I will also ensure the opening paragraph is engaging and that the article is long enough to provide value.
Technical Steps Overview
The major technical steps I will follow for all blogs in this case study include:
- Determine the niche.
- Gather keywords.
- Create a silo structure based on the keywords.
- Set up the website using WordPress CMS and hosting (Vultr and Hawkhost).
- Connect to Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and other webmaster tools.
- Post content regularly and monitor indexing status.
Initial Blog Data
Blog 1 is built on an existing site with bulk AI-generated content. Blog 2 is also an existing site but with manual AI-generated articles. Blog 3 uses an expired domain, and Blog 4 uses a fresh domain.
Updates
Updates on the progress of these blogs will follow, including information on visitor numbers, Google indexing status, and earnings from ads.
Conclusion
So far, the key findings are:
- On-page optimization significantly impacts traffic.
- AI-generated content performs well in search rankings.
- There is potential for high traffic even with bulk AI-generated content.
The next steps will involve further testing, such as optimizing on-page factors, expanding content volume, and experimenting with monetization strategies.
